Katherine L. Chandler, M.D.

92_MEP97Dr. Katherine (Kate) Chandler hails from Marietta, Georgia. She attended Stanford University in Palo Alto, California where she received a B.S. in Human Biology with a focus on infectious diseases before returning to Atlanta to complete medical school at Emory University. She stayed on at Emory for residency in anatomic and clinical pathology as well as fellowships in both Head and Neck Pathology and Hematopathology.

Prior to joining the pathology practice at Piedmont Hospital, Kate worked as a staff pathologist at Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta and for Atlanta Oral Pathology where she practiced with her former fellowship directors, Dr. Steven Budnick and Dr. Susan Muller. She is currently board certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, and hematology. Kate’s primary clinical interests include bone marrow and lymph node pathology, ancillary techniques such as flow cytometry and FISH, as well as oral dysplasia and salivary gland tumors.

When she’s not at work, Kate spends the vast majority of her spare time these days trying to keep up with her two young daughters and spending time with her husband. She is an avid pop culture aficionado who tries to cram lots of T.V., books, and podcasts into whatever limited time is left once she gets her kids (finally!) to sleep.
